CELEBRATING WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH AND MARIAN WRIGHT EDELMAN

During the month of March, THE SCHOOL BELL with Linda Bell is celebrating the words and accomplishments of women for Women’s History Month. In this edition of MONDAY MUSINGS, we celebrate Marian Wright Edelman, activist, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund.

Edelman has been an advocate for disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional life. She began her career in the mid-60s when, as the first black woman admitted to the Mississippi Bar, she directed the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund office in Jackson, Mississippi - representing activists during the Civil Rights Movement. In 1973, she founded the Children's Defense Fund as a voice for poor children, children of color, and children with disabilities.

THE SCHOOL BELL has rung! Class dismissed!!
